I consider canned food has little nurtitional value. I prefer fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables instead of canned food.Sometimes when you are too busy, canned food is great to have it in the house.Just open and heat it over the stove. The food is ready to eat. Balance your diet with fresh fruits and vegetables after a meal of canned food.
Always read the expiry date when you buy canned food. Expiry date gives consumers a guide
to the safety of foodstuff that they eat.

The pineapple is a versatile fruit that can be used for cooking or make into jam and also prepare as a fruit juice. It is ultra rich in antioxidant. Do try this dish.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoon raw chicken breast
100 gm fresh pineapple
1 big onion, clean and cut into wedges
2 tablespoon peanut oil
1 teaspoon ginger wine
1 teaspoon soy sauce
4 tablespoon chicken stock
pinch of salt, pepper and MSG
1 teaspoon cornflour mixed with a little water
Method:
Cut chicken into thin slices and marinate with cornflour and a pinch of salt. Set aside
Remove core of pineapple and cut into small wedges.
Heat half the oil in the frying-pan and fry the pineapple and onions for 3 minutes. Remove and set aside
Add remaining oil in the pan. Put in the chicken slices and stir-fry for 3 minutes.Add ginger wine
seasoning and stock. Bring to a boil. Return pineapple and onions to the pan. Toss and stir along with
with the meat.Thicken the dish with cornflour mixture. Simmer for 2 minutes. Dish out to serve.

Wood Ear or Black Fungus, scientific name is Auricularia Polytricha, when soaked in water, it expands and becomes larger and tougher compare to the cloud ear fungus which is smooth and soft. So do not get confused with the cloud ear fungus. Woodear is used in soups and stir-fries as it adsorb flavours of the food which is cooked with.
Chinese herbalists also believe that wood fungus can help to improve blood flow and circulation. Confinement ladies may need to eat wood fungus cooked with chicken or make chicken soup with rice wine to improve their health.
Before cooking wood ear, it must be soaked in warm water or cold water for about half an hour or so to soften it. Rub with salt , clean and rinse well. Cut off the stem where it was attached to the wood of the tree. Shred the wood fungus into smaller pieces before cooking.

Spicy garlic sauce can be obtained in supermarkets. I use Lee Kum Kee spicy garlic sauce for this dish.
Ingredients:
300 gm shredded meat of your choice
10 gm wood ears ( black fungus), soaked , cleaned and shredded
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon chopped spring onion
1/2 bottle spicy garlic sauce
2 tablespoon peanut oil
1 red chilly. clean and sliced
Method:
Marinate meat with a pinch of salt, a little oil and cornflour. Put aside.
In a wok, add 2 tablespoon oil, saute the garlic and chilly till fragrant. Add in the meat and black fungus, continue stir-frying till meat is cooked.
Add 1/2 bottle of the spicy garlic sauce. Simmer on low heat. Drizzle some water if it is too dry and mix evenly. Garnish with shredded or chopped onion. Remove and serve.
