Spicy Pertai with Shrimps

Pertai grows wild in the jungle. Normally it is plucked by the Aboringines. Petai is known for its cure of diabetes being talked about by the old folks at home. It can be eaten raw or grilled and eat with pounded shrimp paste and chillies by the Malaysians or cooked in a fast and spicy method. It has a strong smell in the mouth after eating. Do not fret. after eating pertai, drink a cup of Chinese tea or eat some red dates. The strong smell will
vanish.

Ingredients:

200 gm pertai beans
300 gm shrimps, shelled and deveined
2 tablespoon chilli paste or chilli boh
3 tablespoon minced onions and garlics
1 teaspoon belacan powder
1 tablespoon fish curry powder
2 tablespoon cooking oil
1 tablespoon tomato sauce
salt and sugar to taste
2 tablespoon water

Method:

Heat a wok until very hot. Add the oil and swirl to coat. Add minced onion and garlics. Fry for a minute and add chilli boh, belacan powder, tomato sauce and fish curry powder and water. Keep on stirring to mix. Put in the prawns and pertai and continue to cook for another 10 minutes. Add salt and sugar to taste. Serve with plain rice.
