Fatt Koh With Attractive Colours

Fatt koh with more than one colours looks attractive for praying and eating as snack too. Kids will like to eat if you try to make some for them. This method needs eggs as one of the ingredients. Another method of preparing, is to leave out eggs which the people use for praying for the Taoist religion.

Ingredients:

300 gm plain flour
1 1/2 teaspoon double-action baking powder
250 gm castor sugar
3 large eggs

Glutinous Rice Balls In Soya Milk

Normally ready cooked rice balls are put into boiled sugar syrup and eat cold or hot. In this recipe the ready made rice balls are put into soya milk to eat. You can add filling of nut paste or bean paste.

Ingredients:

200 gm glutnous rice flour, sifted
300 gm fragrant leave water (daun pandan)

Filling:
100 gm roasted peanuts, skinned and minced in a mincer

Soya Milk:
2 litre soya milk, bought from soya milk stall
sugar syrup given separately to suit taste

Fried Eel with Shallot and Garlic

Some of you may not like to eat eels, but they are very nourishing. Eels are a delicacy in some of the Chinese restaurants. Here in Malaysia, eels can be obtained easily in wet markets and you can also find in supermakets too. Research study says it contains vitamin A, B1, B2 D and E which helps to rejuvenating the body. Steamed Yam Cake With Oats

Yam cake is my favourite snack. I hope busy mothers like to eat too. You can try this dish and prepare on a weekend or any public holiday. I have tried adding some oats to make a lovely crunch to this dish. It needs half an hour to prepare and steaming time will take about 45 mins. or until firm to the touch

Ingredients:serves 6

400 gm rice flour
100gm quick cooking oats
300 gm yam, shredded
6 cups chicken stock
salt to taste
1 tablespoon oil

100 gm dried prawns, washed and drain
50 gm pickled radish (chye poh)

Fresh Squid Soup

Here is a simple sea-food soup to try. After coming home from work, you can prepare this fast and nuitritous soup for your family. You need some dry mushrooms which must be soaked and washed clean the day before. Frozen squid must be thawed below the compartment in the fridge. Celery, big onions and tomatoes are added to this soup.

Ingredients:serve 4

300 gm clean squid, defrost
1 stalk celery. cut 1 inch long
2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
1 big onion cut into wedges
